Objective:To analyze the distribution of the biomechanical properties of the thoracic vertebrae endplates.Method:Compression tests with electronic experimental instrument (ModelCSS-2205) were performed with 49 standardized test sites in 110 bony endplates of intact adult thoracic vertebrae (T2~T12) using a 1.5mm diameter endplate indenter with a test rate of 12mm/min, dates were analyzed statistically.Result:1.The failurel of advaried significantly among the thoracic lev- el (superior endplates,T2 52.97±24.51N~T12 64.89±32.90N,P<0.05; inferior endplates:T2 63.27±26.66N~T12 76.26±67.90N,P<0.05).2.The failure load of the thoracic vertebrae endplates varied significantly between the center of bone and the margin (superior endplates 39.91±13.83N~78.60±33.26N,P<0.05;in- ferior endplates 72.35±37.75N~67.51±48.22N, P< 0.05).3.There was signify- cantly difference in the failure load between the anterior and posterior regions of the Thoracicral endplates (the anterior regions of superior endplates 61.18±31.33N,posterior regions 54.82±26.63 N,P <0.05;the anterior regions of inferior endplates 107.63±4.84 N,posterior regions 109.82±18.66N,P<0.05),all above were significantly differ- ence in statistically. Conclusion:The strength of the thoracic vertebrae superior and inferior endplate increases from T2 to T12. the thoracicr vertebrae endplates in- creases from the center of bone to the margin.the anterior regions is strongthen than the posterior regions of the Thoracicr vertebrae superior and inferior endplates.
