Expression Of Transcription Factor Oct4 And Its Clinical Significance In Lung Cancer

Obiective:To investigate the transcription factor Oct4 expression level in human lung carcinoma and paracancer tissues ,and its clinical signi- ficance.Methods:Western Blotting was used in 40 cases of lung cancer tissues and paracancer lung tissues.Results:Embryonic stem cell transcription factor Oct4 was expressed in lung squamous carcinomar, adenocarcinoma, small cell carcinoma, big cell carcinoma and paracancer tissues. The cancer tissues were obviously overexpressed as compared to the paracancer tissues. Within the lung cancer tissues ,there were stronger expression of Oct4 in the poorly differentiated tumors than that of middle-high differentiated tumors, and the dfference was significant. And there were also stronger expression of Oct4 in theâ…¢stage than that of theâ… andâ…¡stage tumors, and the dfference was significant. No statistically significant differences of Oct4 were found among the various pathologic types of the tumors. Within the paracancer lung tissues, there were stronger expressions of Oct4 in theâ…¢stage than that of theâ… andâ…¡stage tumors, and the dfference was significant. No statistically significant differences of Oct4 were found among the various pathologic types of the tumors.Conclusion:The research shows that embryonic stem cell transcription factor Oct4 was expressed in lung squamous carcinomar , adenocarcinoma, small cell carcinoma, big cell carcinoma and paracancer tissues. Its expression level has some relation with tissues differentiation grade. The results suggest that down regulation of Oct4 expression level has the relationship with differentiation, and the high level of Oct4 expression has the relationship with undifferentiated state. Embryonic stem cell transcript- tion factor Oct4 can be used as marker early diagnosis of lung cancer,and help judge the occurrence and development of lung cancer.
