Objective: To investigate the mechanism of radiotherapy and chemotherapy on hearing impairment in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients through compare to eardrum and hearing of healthy people.Methods: According to healing way of nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients,64cases(128ears) patients have been divided to simple radiotherapy group 45 cases ( 90 ears ) and radiotherapy combine chemotherapy group 19 cases (50 ears),at same time 25 cases (50 ears) health people as control group, then three groups have been carried out otoscopy, pure tone test, tympanogram and eustachian tube function, then we have compared and statistic analysised all test results.Results: simple radiotherapy group and radiotherapy combine chemotherapy group eardrum all exists change, both of them have not obvious differenc(ePï¹¥0.05),simple radiotherapy group and radiotherapy combine chemotherapy group have hearing impairment, most of conduction deaf appear in the former and most of mingle or sensorneural hearing deficit in the latter, both of them have eustachian tube functional disturbance.Conclusions: Radiotherapy and chemotherapy is very important for nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients, but radiotherapy have main disturbanced middle ear or eustachian tube function, chemotherapy have main exist cochleotoxicity ,therapeutic alliance have aggravated hearing impairment.
