Objective: To discuss the correlative factors and containment facility of postoperative pedicle screws fracture in the treatment of thoracolumber fractures. Method: Make a review to the eight cases of breakage of pedicle screws in the treatment of the thoracolumbar fracture from February 2004 to December 2008, to analysis the relevant factors on fracture types, fracture segments, fixation materials, method of decompression, location of pedicle screw fracture, time of pedicle screw fracture, way of bone grafting. Result: Eight cases of pedicle screw fracture in all. Of which four cases of bursting fractures, flexion compression fracture in 2 cases, 2 cases of fracture and dislocation. T111 Example, T123 Examples, L13 Examples, L21 Example. Dick pedicle screw system 1 case, AF pedicle screw system 3 cases, domestic-made RSS screw system 2 cases, universal internal fixation device 1 case, TSRH pedicle screw system 1 case. Six cases of decompression group, two cases of non-decompression group. Six cases of inter-thread fracture, one case of screw-rod-binding domain fracture, one case of screw tail fracture. No bone graft surgery. Conclusion: Thoracolumbar fractures by posterior pedicle screw systems is the result of comprehensive factors. Such as the bone grafting, low notch and earlier activities. Strict indications, choice of suitable fixation devices, skilled operation, means of the proper use of bone graft and postoperative scientific bed time and rehabilitation exercise can prevent pedicle screw fracture happening.
