Objective:To observe the clinical effect of atlanto-occipital decompression and dural plasty cooperated with Shengjinghuoxue Decoction treatment to Chiari malformation type I combined with syringomyelia.Methods:36 cases of Chiari malformation type I with syringomyelia in line with inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups.There are 15 cases in control group,given decompression of atlanto-occipital and subdural angioplasty. There are 21 cases in treatment group, given Shengjinghuoxue Decoction after given decompression of atlanto-occipital and subdural angioplasty. According to the changes of clinical symptoms, signs and MRI of the syringomyelia, observe the effect of surgical treatment. Postoperative follow-up 1 to 4 years, an average of 2.5 years, according to clinical symptoms, signs and MRI changes in syringomyelia, evaluate the postoperative given of Shengjinghuoxue Decoction in improving the long-term effect of patients.Results:The two groups of patients with recent total effective rate was 94.44%; postoperative follow-up 1year, the total effective rate of treatment group was 95.24%, in the control group the total effective rate was 60%. (P <0.05).Conclusion:The surgical results of the decompression of atlanto-occipital and dural plasty treatment of Chiari malformation type I combined with syringomyelia were satisfactory; postoperative given of Shengjinghuoxue Decoction treatment is an effective treatment to improve the long-term effect of Chiari malformation type I syringomyelia.
