Modern Clinical Application Research Of Asarum

ObjectiveTraditional Chinese drug asarum was firstly recorded in Shen Nong's herbal classic of E.Han dynasty in second century. Because its clinical effect is excellent,asarum is a commonly-used traditional Chinese herbal from generation to generation over history.From a long time,especially recent ten years(from 1998 year to 2008 year),researches on asarum for clinical application have achieved some progress.However,they have existed one case reported and common clinical observation,whose theoretical discussion is less.Pure personality or experience content is more and common or regularity content is less.So, on the base of literature analysis this paper approached asarum about clinical application experiences for clinic doctors about recent ten years.The purpose is to provide support, guidance and reference for safely,effective and rational application asarum clinically.This paper offers objective evidence about asarum herbal to revise and perfect in Chinese Pharmacopoeia of 2010 year.MethodOn the base of CNKI database,consult literatures in database for recent ten years(from 1998 year to 2008 year) and collect clinical data whose number is 258 cases about asarum herbal and its prescriptions.Take prescription name,drug composition,usage,effect standard,clinical effect,major indication and source as field name to make database with Excel software.Data were tidied up completely,cluster analysis method was used and data finally were statistically treated by computer.From six aspects such as prescription composition, usage and dosage,pharmaceutical preparation,major indications,clinical effect and adverse reaction,this text reveals modern clinical application general rule of traditional Chinese herbal asarum.ResultsAsarum herbal is widely applied in clinic,involving more 50 diseases in clinical departments.Among,treating headache is 47cases,treating arthralgia syndrome is 40 cases,treating arrhythmia is 40 cases and treating rhinitis is 21 cases,which cover 57.36%of total literatures.In this data,there are 203 cases whose total effective rate is over 90%,which cover 78.68% in total data.Only there are 2 cases which were reported slight adverse reaction.Dosage of asarum herbal less 3g is 85 cases which cover 32.95%.There are 60.85%cases,whose dosage is more than those of prescribed limit in Chinese Pharmacopoeia.In literatures involving 9 kinds of dosage forms,there are 220 decoctions which cover 68.27%,17 pasts which cover 6.59%, 9 electuaries which cover3.49%,3 pills and tinctures separately which cover 1.16%,and 2 powers and tea separately which cover 0.78%Other dosage forms were used less such as oil and capsule.In the paper,there are 225 cases whose asarums were used compatibly.There are many drugs which are compatible with asarum to use clinic.In sequence it is diaphoretics drugs, antipyretics,antirheumatics,Wenli drugs,calming liver-wind drugs,promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis drugs, relive a cough and reduce phlegm drugs and tonic drugs.Among compatible drugs,according to use frequency from high to low, it is glycyrrhiza,ephedra,rhizomaligusticichuanxiong, aconite,angelica sinensis,cassia twig,white peony root, astragalus,angelica,salvia,fangfeng herbal,safflower, achyranthes root,schisandra chinensis,notopterygium, pinellia tuber,catnip,peach seed,ginseng,lumbricus, centipede,lanceolata,scorpion,bupleurum,paeony,poria cocos,rehmanniae radix,mint and dry ginger.ConclusionsSafe and effect are main representation forms of modern clinical application for asarum.Headache,arthralgia syndrome, arrhythmia and rhinitis are main diseases which were treated by arasum.There is main trend for large dosage using asarum. Decoction is clinical application major usage for asarum. Compatibility is main kind of clinical application form.
