Study On The Origins And Courses Of Seven Articles Of Yun-qi In SUWEN

TCM Yun-qi doctrine plays an important role in TCM academic thoughts. But up to now, scholars in this field have different viewpoints in evaluating it, just as TCM Yun-qi doctrine had been going through a prospective and controversial period during its construction and development. So how to understand TCM Yun-qi doctrine correctly is the chief issue before the researchers further study it. Under the condition of insufficient Yun-qi literatures before Tang dynasty, the author put up some points to carry forward the further study of TCM Yun-qi doctrine, that researchers should study the TCM Yun-qi doctrine by placing Seven Articles of Yun-qi into the background of ancient Chinese thoughts and cultures, verifying the academic origin and development track of TCM Yun-qi doctrine, and grasping its essence.The author adopted the research methods of philology and historiography, studied the relationship between Seven Articles of Yun-qi and SUWEN, verified the publication time of Seven Articles of Yun-qi. The research result manifested that Seven Articles of Yun-qi is not the contents of SUWEN, and its publication time is about in Donghan dynasty. On the basis of this, the author studied the thoughts origin of Seven Articles of Yun-qi. Simultaneously, the following two conclusions were drawn.The first is that, the Yun-qi thoughts originated from the combined Yin-yang and five-element doctrine of the ancient state of Qi during the Warring States period. In the initial stage, the Yin-yang and five-element thoughts were manifested in Four Articles of GUANZI, and Qi-poem. Through studying four books, namely, Youguan, Four-season, Five-element, and Underestimate-overestimate Six, the author found that the Xuangong Picture in GUANZI is very similar to the Nature-man Picture, while at the same time, the season system and the relationship between stem-branch and five-element are also very similar to the contents of TCM Yun-qi doctrine, in which the embryonic of Yun-qi thoughts were contained. In the end of the Warring States period, after the intervention of the Yin-yang school (headed by Zou Yan), Yin-yang and five-element doctrine was deduced into nearly every aspect of nature and society, and was developed into Nature-man Interaction Doctrine and charm-disaster doctrine to summarize the historical development courses of that time. Under the influence of that, astronomy began to educe towards astrology, and now Yin-yang and five-element thoughts combining Nature-man Interaction Doctrine and Charm-disaster Doctrine have the function of predicting disasters. Through studying YUELING influenced by it, the author drew a conclusion that the educed Yin-yang and five-element thoughts shaped the embryonic form of Yun-qi thoughts.The second is that, the essence of Yun-qi thoughts is the result of combining Nature-man Interaction Doctrine and Chen-wei Belief generated during the Western and Eastern Han dynasties. The Confucians of Western Han dynasty advocated Nature-man Interaction Doctrine, and restricted imperatorial authority according to some auspicious and disasterous signs. Thus, Nature-man Interaction System constructed on the basis of Yin-yang and five-element emphasized the Human and the communication between human and nature. Through studying Nature-man Interaction Thoughts and the relative literatures, the author deduced that the thought basis of Yun-qi doctrine had been constructed when Nature-man Interaction Doctrine was prevalent during the Western Han dynasties. Up to the Eastern Han dynasty, Chen-wei Belief became the dominant social thoughts due to governors' popularization. At that time, necromancers and Confucians tried their best to rich Chen-wei Belief, so the theoretical system was perfect and complete. Through comparing the divinatory symbol doctrine of YIWEI with Seven Articles of Yun-qi, the author discovered that Chen-wei Belief has a close similarity to Seven Articles of Yun-qi, whether in their contents, or in thoughts essence. The author deduced the contents and thoughts of Seven Articles of Yun-qi essentially originated from Chen-wei Belief of Eastern Han dynasty.After verifying relative literatures of Yun-qi doctrine, the author studied the Seven Articles of Yun-qi from the aspect of both thoughts essence and spread process, and resolved the reason why TCM Yun-qi doctrine hadn't been understood before Tang dynasty, and the internal reason that TCM Yun-qi doctrine experienced a course of half criticism with half praise after Tang dynasty.
