Background and Aim:Primary pulmonary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is very rare, therefore, the characteristics of clinical presentation, imaging examination, tracheoscopy examination and histology examination were understood unclearly. In this study,we collected six cases of primary pulmonary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma from the First Affiliated Hospital, college of medicine,Zhejiang University, and made a retrospective analysis, investigated above characteristics;improved our diagnosis level of PPNHL.Methods:To make a retrospective analysis of six PPNHL from the First Affiliated Hospital, college of medicine,Zhejiang University, from January 2003 until December 2008,and explore the characteristics of clinical presentation, imaging examination, tracheoscopy examination and histology examination. Results:In six cases, there were two men and four women, with an average age of 58.3±10.7 years (range,47-76 years). The duration from complaint to final diagnosis was one month to ten months, with the average value of 3.2±3.5 months. The most common presenting symptoms were cough(4 patients),fever(3 patients),dyspnea(2 patients),chest pain(2 patients),chest distress(2 patients),weight loss(1 patients) and empsyxis(1 patients), two cases had no any, symptoms. The CT scan results were not definite, only one side focus was 4 cases(left:1 case,right:3 cases),and two sides focus were 2 cases;these focus characteristics were different, pulmonary atelectasis(1 case),cavity(3 cases), consol(3 cases),pleural effussion(3 cases) and lymphaden intumesce in mediastinum (2 cases),with 2 cases were doubted as tuberculosis,2 cases were doubted as lung cancer. In six cases, there were only 2 cases accepted the tracheoscopy examination, but the results were negative. All cases were diagnosed definitely based on histology examination,4 cases were made by immunophenotyping studies. In six cases, all were from B-type cell, there were 4 cases considered as marginal zone B-cell lymphoma of mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT).In six cases,5 cases accepted needle biopsy,1 case accepted open biopsy. Conclusions:The clinical presentations and imaging characteristics of PPNHL were not specific,CT could show the focus earily, but the histology examination was the gold standard. If it can be diagnosed and treated earlier,it will be prone to a better outcome.
