Analysis Of 18 Cases About Artificial Joint Prosthesis Treatment Of Bone Tumors Around The Knee Joint

0bjective To analyze the operation of knee reconstruction for the distal femoral or proximal tibial defect by the prosthesis after bone tumor resectionMethods The data of 18 patients ( 14men and 4 women )were retrospectively analyzed. All of them had got the limb salvage surgery with prosthetic knee replacement.。They aged from 12 to 46 years old (average age is 20.3 years) . 17 cases of patients with osteosarcoma, 1 cases of malignant fibrous histiocytoma . Cancer in the distal femora in patients with 14 , in the upper tibia in patients with Example 4. According to Enneking's classification, all of these cases were classified at IIB. All the patients had got 2-3 treatment norms preoperative chemotherapy, and through symptoms, signs, magnetic resonance imaging and clinical test study observations confirmed a good response to chemotherapy. After the operation, the affected limb were wrapped with pressure bandages for one month.,and the CPM machine was used to promote the restoration of knee's functionResults 18 patients were followed up from 5 to 24 months with an average of 13.7 months. 3 cases died within 12 months following operation;2 patients underwent amputation because of recurrence; and the others were alive without deseases . All patients had no dislocation,loosening or breakage of prosthesis.18 cases had good active ension—flexion degrees of an average of 89.4°(range,70°to 120°).The postoperative average IS0LS scale score of 11cases by Enneking's system was 24.1 point(range, 20 to 28).Conclusion With strict indications,It is effective for the treatment of bone tumor around the knee by extensive or radical resection and reconstruction by using prosthetic knee replacement.
