Objective: To investigate the effection of Ramipril on the expression of bone morphogenetic protein-7 of renal interstitial following unilateral ureteral obstruction. Methods: Adult male SD rats were randomly divided into five groups: Sham operated group (sham group), UUO vehicle group (UUO-1 group and UUO-2 group), UUO treated with Ramipril 10 mg·kg-1·d-1 (ACEI-1 group and ACEI-2 group), the rats in ACEI-1 group were treated with Ramipril one week after unilateral ureteral obstruction, ACEI-2 group were treated with Ramipril right after unilateral ureteral obstruction .On the 1 week after operation , the obstructed kidneys of rats in UUO-1 group were taken out to be measured by Masson stain and RT-PCR method, the kidneys of the other groups were taken out on the 2 week after operation. The degree of tubulointerstitial damage was scored. Results: In comparison with UUO-2 group, renal interstitial expression of bone morphogenetic protein-7 were significantly increased in ACEI-2 group, the degree of tubulointerstitial damage were reduced .On the base of renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis, interstitial expression of bone morphogenetic protein-7 were increased and the degree of tubulointerstitial damage were reduced in ACEI-1 group. Conclusions: Ramipril may maintain expression of bone morphogenetic protein-7 on the course of renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis, slow the advance of the tubulointerstitial .
