Estimation And Study About The Psychological And Physical Effect In Indoor Wooden Visual Environment

Because the wooden visual environmental quality is very particular, according to the increasing demand of indoor environmental taste people become more and more concerned about the wooden material and its indoor living visual environmental quality. So it is scientific and indispensable to research the influence of the wooden visual environment on the human body from the psychophysiology as breakingthrough point recently for some experts ulteriorly carrying out the wooden visual environment research.On the one hand this paper surveys psychological evaluation about the visual physical parameters of wooden surface and the constituent factors of indoor wooden visual environment by Semantic Differential Method (short for SD). On the other hand using Heart Rate Variability (short for HRV) and the dynamic continuous blood pressure (short for DBP) as indices to reflect physiological changes it investigates the changes of human's sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves, and fatherly to analyze the relations among visual physical parameters of wooden surface or the constituent factors of indoor wooden visual environment, visual psychological parameters and visual physiological parameters. On that basis, this paper proposes the evaluation system of the indoor visual environment by the fuzzy mathematics theory, and the system contains 4 Level 1 indices and 14 Level 2 indices. Then it respectively evaluates and compares the indoor visual environment composing of the wood, plastic or marble as the main decorative materials. Results are as follows:(1)By computer software, it alters the wooden color values of hue, saturation and luminance and obtains as a color sequence aggregation in order to investigate the influence of the wooden color parameters system and its changes on the visual psychology and physiology, the study shows that: when the wooden color stays the original hue close to "yellow" or the "red", and the saturation and luminance appreciably rises, it obtains better visual psychological feelings including "warm", "comfortable", "natural" , "vivid" and other visual psychological parameters. Meanwhile, the changes of the physiological indices reflect the predominant activity of parasympathetic nerves, the body state inclines to "relaxed". When the saturation and luminance rises beyond the certain range, the psychological feelings decreases and the changes of the physiological indices reflects the predominant activity of sympathetic nerves and psychological stress increases.(2)Using digital image processing, it imitates the configuration pattern of wood texture in order to investigate the influence of the different values about the textural elements as "textural periodicity", "textural period length", "ratio of textural width to textural spacing" and "textural luminance" on the visual psychology and physiology, the study shows that: When the textural periodicity remains in the suitable range, textural luminance decreases and textural spacing is twice of the textural width, it obtains better visual psychological feelings. Meanwhile, the changes of the physiological indices reflect the predominant activity of parasympathetic nerves, the body state inclines to "relaxed". When the textural periodicity decreases beyond the certain range, the psychological feelings lowers and the changes of the physiological indices reflects the predominant activity of sympathetic nerves and psychological stress increases.(3)Using the sitting room and bedroom as the limited research location, it selects 45 pictures composed of different decorative materials, different main colors, different decorative styles and the different ratios of wood in order to survey the visual psychological parameters. The results shows that: because of the indoor environmental function and mental habit, the values of psychological parameters in wood are better than ones in plastics and marble; the psychological parameters in mahogany are uppermost, then the second in pale yellow-white and yellow-white and the lowermost in dark brown and gray brown. Then most values of psychological parameters in Chinese decorative style are better than ones in modern and japanese decorative styles. Additionally, people put high value on psychological parameters in the ratios of indoor wooden materials between 30% and 70%. By the correlation analysis and principal component analysis, 8 visual psychological parameters of wooden visual environment separate into 3 principal components as"warm", "comfortable" and "stimulated". Comprising 68.2% of all the indoor visual psychological parameters, "warm" and "comfortable" represent the main principal component of the indoor visual environmental quality. Through the combined analysis of the psychological and physiological indices, the relationship between psychological parameters and physiological parameters exists. Along with the increasing of the values about the psychological parameters, physiological changes reflect the predominant activity of parasympathetic nervous, the suppression activity of sympathetic nervous and body state inclines to "relaxed" and "comfortable".(4)Through the fuzzy mathematics theory, this paper combines the environment (materials), physiology and psychology in organic unit and established the evaluation system of the indoor visual environment comprising 4 Level 1 indices and 14 Level 2 indices. 4 Level 1 indices of this evaluation system and the optical sequence of the index weighing is: physical visual environment(0.425)>materials visual quality (0.32) > psychological feeling(0.16) physiological adjustment(0.095). Based on the fuzzy integration evaluation of synthetic evaluation, the paper applies the evaluation system respectively to the visual environmental quality of sitting rooms comprising wood, plastic and marble as mainly decorative materials, and validates the practical and applied meaning of this system, which evaluates the wooden materials and its visual environmental trait.
