Objective To discuss the influence of prenatal diagnosis, active follow up and immediate pyeloplasty on the prognosis of patients with congenital ureteropelvic junction obstruction by retrospective analysis of 85 cases in our hospital. Methods 85 medical records were divided into prenatal diagnosed group and postnatal diagnosed group. The parameters on pathology during operation, preoperative statuses, status before discharging from hospital etc, were collected and statistically analyzed. The result was obtained by comparison of sample frequence and Chi-square test using software SPSS 13.0. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results The number of grade 4 hydronephrosis, secondary renal calculus, opposite kidney hydronephrosis and infection complication was lower in prenatal diagnosed group (P<0.05), but the number of patients with multi-antibiotics usage was higher (P<0.016). There was no significant difference in the rate of preoperative fistulation, pyonephrosis, usage of third line antibiotics and discharging with drainage by Chi-square test. Conclusion 1.the development of hydronephrosis is progressive. The damage of renal parenchyma is positive correlated with time. 2. Ultrasonagraphy and follow-up are indispensable both before and after birth which will help doctors to diagnose the disease at early stage.3. Surgical operation on congenital hydronephrosis neonate is safe with sufficient preoperative preparation and efficient antibiotic usage, and will achieve the same effect with the patients undergo surgical operation at older age.4. Immediate surgical operation is of great clinical significance on preventing serious complication and irreversible change.
