| Objective To discuss and research whether the therapeutic efficacy of gamma knife radiosurgery(GKS) for meningioma was affected by the tumor size.Methods The clinical data of 75 cases of meningioma collected from the gamma knife treatment & research center were retrospectively analyzed.The experimental group includes 35 patients,of each the tumor's diameter is above 3cm;the control group includes of 40 patients,of each the tumor's diameter is less than 3cm.After treatment these patients would be given a MRI examination per 6 months.Contrasted with the MRI of in treatment,we found out the efficacy of GKS for meningioma.Then analyse the difference of the two group in software SPSS V13.0.to find out the relationship between the efficacy and the tumor size.Results Mean follow-up period:32.8 months after the GKS.From the reviews of MRI,we found out that the efficacy of GKS was satisfactory.Tumor clearance and shrinkage was noted in 20 patients of experimental group and in 25 patients of control group;tumor stabilization in 13 patients of experimental group and in 12 patients of control group,the effective control rate was 94.2%and 92.5%,respectively.Tumor enlargement was noted in 2 patients of experimental group and in 3 patients of control group,the noneffective control rate was 5.8%and 7.5%, respectively.There were no significant differences between two groups.Conclusions Gamma knife radiosurgery is a effective therapy for meningioma,and there is no significant pertinence between the therapeutic efficacy and the tumor size. |
