Objective:Central obesity is known as abdominal obesity. It is because that the fat stores in the abdomen.Usually the waist is bigger than the hips.Chinese are much easier to have central obesity than the foreigners. The research indicated that the central obesity will create hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipemia, hyperuricaemia, and so on.It is greatly harmful to human' s health and life. This study is to evaluate the clinical effect of moxibustion on central obesity of Middle-aged person;and to discuss the functional medical mechanism of moxibustion.Besides, method of normal acupuncture would be compared with the method of moxibustion,so to absorb that whether there is any differentiation between those two methods. The possible factor which cause the differentiation would also be discussed. Methods:Basing on consulting relative literatures and summarizing a great deal of clinic case history,60 middle-aged patients those diagnosed as central obesity were randomized into research group and control group averagely.Thepointswere:Zhongwan,Shuifen,Guanyuan,Tianshu,Shenshu,Sanjiao shu,Zusanli,Sanyinjiao.Method of moxibustion was added to the research groups, while method of normal acupuncture was used in the control group. One period of treatment has ten times, observation of the clinic effect would be taken after 3 periods.Besides, statistical software of SPSS13.0 was used to deal with the date.Metric date were described by mean and standard deviation((?)±S).Test of Chi-square,T,Ridit were used to deal with date of the research.Results:1.The weight losing effective rate were 73.33%in the observation group, and 80%in the control group; The BMI values decreasing effective rate were 46.67%in the observation group, and 36.67%in the control group; The waistline effective rate were 93.33%in the observation group, and 80%in the control group. Both groups shown distinctive effect on upper there pats (P<0.01).2.The results obtained from observed groupfor the decrease values of the patients' weights and BMI values had no significant with the control group(P>0.05).While there was significant difference on decreasing waistline between observed group and control group(P<0.05).3.On syndromes-improvement, both groups shown significant effect(P<0.01),with highly differentiation (P<0.05).Conclusions:1.Both methods have effect on treating central obesity. The two methods had no significant different on decreasing the weight and BMI. However,on decreasing the waistline, method of moxibustion had better effect than method of normal acupuncture.2.On syndromes-improvement,both methods were effective, but method of moxibustion had better effect than method of normal acupuncture.
