Upper respiratory tract obstruction can be easily caused by some diseases in peacetime and war time, such as multiple complex maxillofacial trauma, inhalation of respiratory tract burns, acute laryngeal obstruction, etc.. In general, the effective therapeutic methods, include artificial ventilation, tracheal intubation, tracheotomy and establishment of intravenous access, can not be carried by specialist in time, an extreme decrease in the amount of oxygen in the body will lead the patients to loss of consciousness or death. Therefore, in the future battlefield, if the life guard and other soldiers can treat the wounded in correct and fast methods before professional medical care, the effectiveness of saving the life can be significantly improved. In this paper, a new cricothyroid membrane puncturing device was developed. It could aid the catheterization and ventilation by puncturing cricothyroid membrane and feeding high-frequency oxygen, which can effectively improve the cure rate of the patients with oxygen barrier of the upper respiratory tract, such as complex maxillofacial trauma, inhalation of respiratory tract burns, acute laryngeal obstruction, laryngeal neoplasms, tetanus cramps, throat surgery, tracheal infusion of drugs, etc. Based on the technologies of four clinic and first-aid, the medical and nursing staffs of primary military hospitals could quickly master the puncturing technology by watching video and training on the human body. The operator can the technology for emergency ventilation.Cricothyroid membrane puncturing device is suitable for first-aid of wounded person with obstacle of the upper respiratory tract in peacetime and war time. The device is portable, quick and easy to operating, minimal invasion and effective. Clinical application of new puncturing technologies, which is hopeful to become the fifth first-aid technique of military medical training and self-help saving, possesses brood prospects.
