More than ten years of clinical and empirical study indicated that traditional Chinese medicine method Xi Kai Ku Jiang and its typical medicine Wei Kangning to cure FD is safe and effective. However, the molecular mechanism of the traditional Chinese medicine against disease remains umclear. Functional dyspepsia (FD), according to the'Rome II'Consensus Report, is defined by 12 wk in the past 12 mo, of persistent or recurrent pain or discomfort in the upper abdomen, in the absence of organic disease and no association with bowel habit. The pathogenesis of Functional Dyspepsia (FD) remains unclear, motor dysfunction of upper gastrointestinal, drink and food, psychological and society would be possible relevant. Especially, research has demonstrated an association between this common diagnosis and psychosocial factors. Now the challenge is how to elucidate the pharmaceutic mechanisms of"Wei Kangning", which will greatly benefit the development of traditional Chinese medicines for prevention and therapy of FD. An investigation is virtually required to globally profile the molecular responses treated with traditional Chinese medicine-"Wei Kangning".The proteomic strategy has paved the access to profile the cellular responses at protein level under stress. Then, we present proteomic data based upon a systematic analysis, combining several techniques of proteomics, such as two-dimensional electrophoresis (2DE), mass spectrometry and western blotting, to study the protein expression alterations in gastrointestinal tissue from each group. Several antioxidation proteins, such as glutathione S-transferase-pi 2(GSTP2), superoxide dismutase 2(SOD2) were expressed responding to this event. The information provided here, therefore, will deepen our knowledge on how"Wei Kangning"is againest the Functional dyspepsia.
