Objective:To research fifty normal occlusal plane and vertical dimension of middle-old age people with cephalometric,then we can see the feature of the edentulous jaw soft-sclerous tissues by cephalometric,for finding the identification point of the soft-sclerous tissues about cranio-jaw,studying how to use the point and edentulous jaw occlusal plane and vertical dimension align to the natual teeth localization.At last,it can refer to the clinical work.Methods:1 Choice fifty normal occlusal middle-old age people(age fortyfive to seventy-five) ,average sixty-six,divide to two groups,male group(30) and female group(20).2 To shoot the X-ray measure pictures about every normal individuality by the same engineer,describe them at a length time by the author himself and then import to the computer,to measurement.3 Locating the occlusal plane from two direction:the sternocostal surface of the occlusal plane and the gradient of the occlusal plane.4 The loating of the sernocostal surface of the occlusal plane from two directions—level and vertical dimension. 4.1 vertical dimension:to measure the dustabce of the Ptm,N,ANS,UIE,Sn and Pn to FH plane by the primaty plane which is FH plane.4.2 the level:to make perpendicular line from Ptm,N,ANS,UIE,Sn,Pn to FH plane,marked Ptm',N',ANS',UIE',Sn',Pn',to measure the distance from Ptm',N',ANS',UIE',Sn',Pn'to Ptm',marked Ptm'-N',Ptm'-ANS',Ptm'-UIE',Ptm'-Sn',Ptm'-Pn'.5 The occlusal plane ascent was determined by the relationship of the OP-FH(the angle of occlusal plane and Frankfort horizontal plane) and the Po-N-ANS(the angle composed by porion,nasion and anterior nasal spine point),Ar-Go-Me(the angel composed by articulare,gonion and menton point),ANS-Go-Me(the angel composed by anterior nasal spine,gonion and menton point),MP-FH(the angle composed by mandibular plane and Frankfort horizontal plane),PP-FH(the angle composed by palatal plane and Frankfort horizontal plane),SGn-FH(the angle composed by the Y-axis and Frankfort horizontal plane).6 The vertical dimension was determined by the relationship of the ANS-Me(the vertical distance of the anterior nasal spine and the menton point),N-ANS(the vertical distance of the nasion and the anterior nasal spine point),N-Me(the vertical distance of the nasion and the menton point),SL(the distance of the sella point and the vertical foot of pogonion point on the SN plane),SE(the distance of the sella point and the vertical foot of the T4 on the SN plane)7 Input all the value into the SAS8.1 to analyse:7.1 To measure the correlation coefficient about UIE-FH and Ptm-FH,N-FH,ANS-FH,Sn-FH,Pn-FH,make straining variable by UIE-FH, independent variable by Ptm-FH,N-FH,ANS-FH,Sn-FH,Pn-FH ,to analysis by regressional line.7.2 To measure the correlation coefficient about Ptm'-UIE'and Ptm'-N',Ptm'-ANS',Ptm'-Sn',Ptm'-Pn', make straining variable by Ptm'-UIE', independent variable by Ptm'-N',Ptm'-ANS',Ptm'-Sn',Ptm'-Pn', to analysis by regressional line.7.3 To measure the correlation coefficient of OP-FH and PoNANS,Ar-Go-Me,ANS-Go-Me,MP-FH,PP-FH,SGn-FH , make straining variable by OP-FH,independent variable by PoNANS,Ar-Go-Me,ANS-Go-Me,MP-FH,PP-FH,SGn-FH, to analysis by regressional line.7.4 To measure the correlation coefficient of ANS-Me and N-ANS,N-Me,SE,SL , make straining variable by ANS-Me,independent variable by N-ANS,N-Me,SE,SL, to analysis by regressional line.Results:1 The UIE-FH and Ptm-FH,ANS-FH,Sn-FH,Pn-FH become the correlational dependence, and have inverse correlational dependence with N-FH in male group,the UIE-FH and ANS-FH,Sn-FH,Pn-FH become the correlational dependence in female group.UIE-FH and ANS-FH have the strongest relevance in the skeletal marked point.The regression equation of the male: y=-11.1412+0.6116x,the regression equation of the female:y=-4.0018+0.4964x. UIE-FH and Sn-FH have the strongest relevance in the soft tissue marked point.The regression equation of the male: y=-11.1043+0.7277x,the regression equation of the female:y=-9.6104+0.7042x.2 Ptm'-UIE'and Ptm'-ANS',Ptm'-Sn'have the correlational dependence in male group; Ptm'-UIE'and Ptm'-ANS',Ptm'-Sn',Ptm'-Pn'have the correlational dependence,and have inverse correlational dependence with Ptm'-N'in female group. Ptm'-UIE'and Ptm'-ANS'have the strongest relevance in the skeletal marked point.The regression equation of the male: y=20.7096+0.5887x,the regression equation of the female:y=7.4129+0.795x.Ptm'-UIE'and Ptm'-Sn'have the strongest relevance in the soft tissue marked point.The regression equation of the male: y=37.8053+0.4914x,the regression equation of the female:y=14.3508+0.8445x.3 OP-FH and MP-FH have correlational dependence in male group,and the MP-FH has the strongest correlational dependence,the regression equation is y=16.8634+0.5242x; OP-FH has inverse correlational dependence with PoNANS,and correlational dependence with MP-FH in female group.The MP-FH has the strongest correlational dependence,the regression equation is y=13.745+0.4472x.4 ANS-Me and N-ANS have correlational dependence in both male group and female group.They have the strongest relevance in both groups.The regrssion equation: y=58.0011+1.0310x for male,y=53.0571+1.0654x for female.Conclusion:1 The regression equation of UIE-FH and ANS-FH,Sn-FH determine the location of the sternocostal surface of the occlusal plane in vertical demension,and the regression equation of Ptm'-UIE'and Ptm'-ANS',Ptm'-Sn'determine the location of the sternocostal surface of the occlusal plane in horisontal demension.2 The occlusal plane gradient of the edentulous jaw patients could be locating by the regression equation of OP-FH and MP-FH: Y=0.9508+0.3132x.3 The vertical distance could be locating by the regression equation of ANS-Me and N-ANS.
