Thoracic and lumbar vertebra fracture with varying degrees of spinal cord and cauda equina injury, which is common clinically, could cause paraplegia due to vertebral body height, deformity after the injury. It is particularly common in high-altitude traffic accidents and fall injury. Pedicle screw (PS) is a milestone in the history of its spine surgery. Spine surgeons has used wire rod, hook to stabilize thoracic and lumbar vertebra. However, these devices require the involvement of more segments, cross at least one complete soft tissue integrity, and fixed with indirect biomechanics. Pedicle, the strongest part of the spine, can be subjected to lateral stress, stress and rotation stress. PS segmental thoracic and lumbar fixation techniques have been applied widely in the world. It is becoming the most commonly used internal fixation for the thoracic and lumbar fracture . In this article, PS history, PS implants basic steps, PS implant-related complications, PS and PS after implantation of bone graft implant monitoring methods were reviewed.
