Objective: To discuss Macrocytic anemia (MCV >96fl) related disease and its clinical significance.Method: LH750, an automatic complete blood corpuscle analyzer was used to screening 96 patients, admitted in pediatric department of our hospital with Macrocytic anemia in 3 years period (from January 1, 2005 to July 30, 2008), The medical case history of macrocytic anemia was investigated by physical examinations as well as reticulomacroerthroycyte count, peripheral blood and bone marrow morphology, liver function test and thyroid function test for the diagnosis of disease.Result: Among 96 Macrocytic anemia patients 2 patients (2.1%) were Megaloblastic anemia, 2 patients had lower level of thyroid function test, 4 patients were receiving chemotherapy, 11 patients had myelodysplastic syndrome, 21 patients had autoimmune hemolytic anemia, 31 patients had aplastic anemia, and 25 patients were of leukemia. Megaloblastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, aplastic anemia displays red blood cell heterogenecity type of anemia but leukemia and autoimmune hemolytic anemia displays the majority cases of red blood cell heterogenecity type of anemia.Conclusion:In the Guangxi medical university, first affiliated hospital,The proportion of Macrocytic anemia in children often seen myelodysplastic syndrome, Leukemia, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia and Megaloblastic anemia is <10%。...
