Objective To detect the expression of CyclinD1,MIB-1 andβ-catenin in human gliomas and to study the relationship of the expression of the three proteins to histopathology classification of glioma and correlation of each other and the function in the development process of glioma. Methods Immunohistochemical method was used to detct the expression ofβ-catenin,CyclinD1,MIB-1 in 48 neurogliocytoma essays and 11 normal brain tissue essays.Analyzing the correlation of the three proteins and the relation to grade of glioma by statistically. Results There was no expression ofβ-catenin,CyclinD1,MIB-1 in normal brain tissue and the expression ofβ-catenin,CyclinD1,MIB-1 in low-grade and high-grade gliomas was 64.0%,95.7%,76.0%,100%,1.36±1.32%,11.13±6.48%respectively.The positive cell number ofβ-catenin,CyclinD1,MIB-1 was associated with the degree of malignancy of tumors(P<0.05).In addition, the expression ofβ-catenin and CyclinD1 was corelated well with each other(P<0.05).Conclusion(1) The expression level ofβ-catenin,CyclinD1 was higher in high-grade gliomas than low-grade gliomas and there was no expression ofβ-catenin,CyclinD1 in normal brain tissue.(2) The overexpression ofβ-catenin and CyclinD1 has positive correlation which may hint thatβ-catenin has relation to the regulate disord of cell cycle in gliomas,to maintaining proliferation activity of glioma.(3)MIB-1,as a labeling index of cell proliferation, its overexpression can reflect malignant proliferation in gliomas objectively.
