Objective:Acute liver injury has a very high morbidity and mortality and is a common pathology. The diseases of liver can be theraped better using the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine. The treatment of traditional Chinese medicine not only can improve the function, but also can revive the structure. We wondered to discuss the protective effects of Bidens cernua L TFB on carbon tetrachloride-induced liver damage in mice, and to find out its mechanism. Methods:A model of liver damage was established in mice by intraperitoneal injection of CCl4.(1)In acute test , those mice were treated with low-, medium-, high-dose Bidens cernua L TFB,NS and Protect liver tablet for one week, and establish a model of acute liver damage in mice by intra- peritoneal injection of CCl4. Extirpate the eyes of the mice to contain the blood, take the above serum, Then measuring the levels of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase(AST), as well as the contents of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in liver tissues were detected. Dissect the liver of the mice, account the liver exponential and practice HE dyeing. (2)In Chronic test, after establish the damage model for four weeks, we treated the mice with low-,medium-,high-dose Bidens cernua L TFB,NS and Protect liver tablet for 6 weeks. Results:We applied the model of carbon tetrachloride-included acute and chronic liver injury in mice to investigate hepatoprotective activity of TFB. In acute test, the results suggested that oral administration of TFB at doses of 30,60,120 mgï¹’kg-1,significantly reduced the elevated of liver index(P<0.05,P<0.01,P<0.001), ALT ,AST (P<0.05,P<0.01)and MDA(P<0.05,P<0.001).In addition,TFB markedly inhibited CCl4-induced lipid perxidation, and enhanced the activitied of antioxidant enzymes, SOD(P<0.05,P<0.01,P<0.001). In chronic test, the results suggested that oral administration of TFB at doses of 30,60, 120 mgï¹’kg-1, significantly reduced the elevated of liver index(P<0.05,P<0.001), ALT ,AST (P<0.05,P<0.01,P<0.001)and MDA(P<0.05,P<0.001).In addition, TFB markedly inhibited CCl4-induced lipid perxidation, and enhanced the activitied of antioxidant enzymes, SOD(P<0.05,P<0.001).Bidens cernua L TFB could significantly reduce the levels of liver index and serum ALT ,AST and MDA in model mice, and the content of SOD was increased .Conclusion:The therapeutic effect of Bidens cernua L TFB on mice with CCl4-induced liver damage, including acute and chronic model,is to relieve the seriousness of liver damage , and its mechanism may relate to reducing peroxidation activity in liver tissue .
