Cochlear is a kind of typical and exact electronic medical-device which can restore partial hearing of profoundly deaf people rather than other medical-devices. It is a system designed to functionally replace the human cochlea for the severe to profound hearing impaired patients. The study of cochlear come down to various knowledge and technology such as acoustics, electrics, computer science, processing of signal, biomaterial and so on. There are few countries can produce now. And the great mass of deaf patients in our country cannot benefit from the high technology just because they cannot afford the high price. So, we should develop the cochlear implant system depending on ourselves, improve its quality and lower its price to meet the requirement of deaf patients in our country, which can lead to great social benefit and economic benefit. This paper focuses primarily on the design and experiment of implanted device which include receiver-stimulator and electrode array. Aim at the high price of cochlear implant, this paper designed an implanted receiver-stimulator based on MSP430 and nRF2401. This receiver-stimulator can receive signals really and truly, choose the right electrodes based on the frequency of voice, and generate diphase pulses which are suitable for auditory nerve stimulation with the way of changing referenced electrode. And it also can control the intensity of stimulation by changing the interspaces'scale of pulses. A biocompatible and stable electrode array that has 8 electrodes based on PDMS has been designed. And an electrode array module has been executed. Some capabilities have been tested to insure the qualification of cochlear receiver-stimulator is well, including the veracity of receiving, stability of stimulation, and validity of decoder and filter. In addition, the capability of electrode array has been studied, the electrical and electrical characteristics of electrode model which made of PDMS and cuprum has been tested. This design accords the capability of cochlear electrode array. This paper can provide some use of reference for developing some high quality and low price cochlear implant especially for the implanted device, which can bring a lot of benefits to deaf patients in our country.
