Object: To evaluate the prophylactic effect of ceramic-coating filter for post-operative secondary thrombosis in inferior vena cava through a contrast experimental study. Methods: The AegisyTM filter and ceramic-coating filter of Lifetech were used. 12 beagles dogs were assigned into 2 groups at random . The two kinds of filters were implanted in each group separately. Angiography of inferior vena cave was conducted 4 weeks later and the dogs were killed and sampled to see if there existed any thrombus insides or around the filter. The wire of the filter which was covered by the newborn endomembrane of inferior vena cave was measured for the length. The growing status of the newborn endothelial cells and the micro-thrombus were surveyed through electron microscope. The newborn endomembrane was measured for the thickness through electron microscope.Results:①All filters were deployed successfully .The shapes and locations were normal. The achievement ratio of the operation is 100%.②Thrombosis occurred in 1 case of the AegisyTM filter group and in nocase of the ceramic-coating filter group.③The mean of the length of the wire which was covered by the newbornendomembrane was 15. 02±0. 46cm in the AegisyTM filter group and 16.69±0. 41cm in the ceramic-coating filter group. There existed statistic diversity between the two groups.④The mean of the thickness of the newborn endomembrane was 182.00±2.73um in the AegisyTM filter group and 210.67±6.42um in the ceramic-coating filter group. There existed statistic diversity between the two groups.⑤The newborn endomembrane was smooth with no adhesion or aggregation of the blood cells, however the blood cells were observed adhering and aggregating on the wires which had not been covered with endomembrane.⑥4 weeks after the implantation of the filter, the endothelial cells newly covering the filter was thin and flat with a sliver shape , lining up tightly and regularly .And they were syntropic with the bloodstream. Conclusions: Compared to the AegisyTM filter , ceramic-coating filter showed a better endothelialization procedure and seemed to induce thrombosis in a lower rate. Ceramic-coating filter is superior to theAegisyTM filter in the prophylactic effect of secondary thrombosis after being implanted in inferior vena cava.
