Objective To study the expression of BECN1 and bcl-2 in epithelial ovarian tumor and investigate the relation between BECN1 and bcl-2.Methods Immunohistochemical stain PV-9000 method was used to detect the expressions of BECN1 and bcl-2 in 60 cases of epithelial ovarian cancer, 10 cases of borderline ovariantumors, 20 cases of benign epithelial ovarian tumors ,and 10 cases of normal ovarian tissues were taken as control. The levels of BECN1 and bcl-2 in different epithelial ovarian lesion tissues and their relations with clinicalpathological parameters were analyzed. Data analysis was carried by SPSS13.0.Results1. The expressing situation of BECN1 and bcl-2: The expression of BECN1 protein in normal epithelial ovarian tumor and benign epithelial ovarian tumor was significantly higher than in borderline ovarian tumors and epithelial ovarian cancer(P<0.01). The expression of bcl-2 protein in normal epithelial ovarian tumor and benign benign epithelial ovarian tumor was significantly lower than in borderline ovarian tumors and epithelial ovarian cancer (P<0.01).2. The relation between BECN1 and bcl-2 expression and the clinical pathological characters of epithelial ovarian tumor :The positive rate of BECN1 and bcl-2was strongly associated with the pathological grade (P=0.014) , (P=0.000) ,clinical stage (P=0.033), (P=0.014) and lymphatic metastasis (P=0.007), (P=0.000). There was no relationship between BECN1, bcl-2 protein expression and the clinical pathological characters (P=0.955) , (P=0.589) .3. The relation between BECN1 and bcl-2 :The expression of BECN1 was associated with bcl-2 (r=0.372 , P=0.003)Conclusions1. Along with pathogenetic condition progression , the expressions of BECN1 tended to reduce, but the expressions of bcl-2 tended to increase .The results suggest that the expressing changes of BECN1 and bcl-2 may activate the oncogene and play an important role in the happen of epithelial ovarian tumor2.Low expression of BECN1 and high expression of bcl-2 protein were related to clinical stage , pathological grade and lymphatic metastasis in epithelial ovarian cancer, The results show that may relate with the development of epithelial ovarian cancer predict poor prognosis.3.The expression of BECN1 was associated with bcl-2. which suggested BECN1 may play an important role in the development, invasion and metastasis of epithelial ovarian cancer, together with bcl-2. BECN1 may be an important referenced index of predicting biological behavior and a valuable target of the treatment of epithelial ovarian cancer.
