Objective:To provide anatomic basis for liver resection of hepatocellular carcinoma with center type, caudate lobectomy, and living-related liver transplantation,The data obtained by utilizing anatomic observation of hepatic veins and short hepatic veins. Methods:The data were observed and measured on 60 adult cadavers:1.Study the regularity of caliber of retrohepatic inferior vena cava and its relationship with the mouth of hepatic veins.2.Anatomized and studied cadaveric livers, which included the character, length, diameter and the angle with the falciform ligament of the vessels of the second hepatic port.3.Anatomized and studied cadaveric livers, which included the location, number, diameter and the relation with the hepatic vein of the vessels of the third hepatic port. The SHVs were divided into 3 lines and were drained into the left wall, the front wall and the right wall of the inferior vena cava respectively. The extrahopatic length, caliber of the major hepatic veins and the number, location, caliber and the relationship between the major hepatic veins of SHVs were observed and measured. The calibe, location and the extrahepatic length of the inferior right hepatic veins were observed and measured through resecting back wall of inferior vena cava.Results:1.The internal diameter of inferior vena cava near the heart is 28.8±1.12mm,and that far from the heart is 22.2±1.05mm.The mouth of right, middle and left hepatic veins lies the place of 1/4 up of retrohepatic inferior vena cava, the mouth of right hepatic veins is the highest, the second is the mouthof middle hepatic veins and the mouth of left hepatic veins is the lowest.2.The length of the left hepatic vein was 2.2-17.9(6.7±1.3) mm;The terminal diameter was7.1-18.1(10.3±1.9) mm,the angle between the left hepatic vein and the falciform linament was32.29±11.23?.The length of the middle hepatic vein was 2.4-10.8(5.4±1.3) mm,the terminal diameter was 6.9-18.9(11.8±2.3) mm,the angle between the middle hepatic vein and the falciform linament was43.04-11.55?.The length of the right hepatic vein was 2.6-11.8(6.8±1.3) mm,the terminal diameter was 9.5-22.1(13.7±2.6) mm.3.The terminal diameter of short hepatic veins was1.5-17.8(5.4±1.4) mm.The incidence rate of inferior right hepatic veins was 83.3%with an average diameter of 2.6-8.0(4.3±1.2) mm.Conclusions:Inferior vena cava goes upward, beginning from anterior superior right side, then continues with posterior inferior left side, reaches vena caval foramen of diaphragm. Then forms a convex toward right side at the sulcus of inferior vena cava, the convex lies at the constricted area of inferior vena cava, middle and left hepatic veins that share the common duct account for 73%.Among right, middle and left hepatic veins, the caliber of right hepatic veins is the largest, while that of left hepatic veins has the longest out-liver length. The short hepatic veins varies greatly in different specimen.Anyway, most of them have larger caliber. The SHVs have much variations and were compensated for major hepatic veins in diameter, numbers.
