Objective The present study is intended to investigate the relationships of CYP11B2,ApoA5 gene polymorphisms and type 2 diabetes with nephropathy in Chinese people. Methods CYP11B2 and ApoA5 genotypes were investigated with PCR-RFLP techniques in 130 cases of type 2 diabetes and 175 controls.Results①CYP11B2 gene did not show significant differences in genotype and allele distributions in the three groups. When compared with the T allele, the C allele did not have a significantly increased DN risk(OR=1.415,95%CI:0.927-2.160);When compared with the T allele, the C allele did not have a significantly increased DM risk(OR=1.313,95%CI:0.850-2.030);②the plasma aldosterone concentrations of the type 2 diabetes with and without nephropathy groups were very obviously higher than of the the control groups, the plasma aldosterone concentrations did not show obvious differences between the type 2 diabetes with and without nephropathy groups, but they showed obvious differences among the three genotypes of CYP11B2 gene -344C/T in the type 2 diabetes with nephropathy groups.③ApoA5 gene showed very significant differences in genotype and allele distributions in the three groups. When compared with the T allele, the C allele had a very significantly increased DN risk(OR=1.931,95%CI:1.275-2.923).When compared with the T allele, the C allele had a very significantly increased DM risk(OR=1.931,95%CI:1.275-2.923).Conclusions①The -344C/T polymorphism in the CYP11B2 gene is not associated with type 2 diabetes with nephropathy;②The-344C/T polymorphism in the CYP11B2 gene is not associated with type 2 diabetes;③The -344C/T polymorphism in the CYP11B2 gene is possibly associated with plasma aldosterone concentrations in type 2 diabetes with nephropathy patients.④The-1131T/C polymorphism in the ApoA5 gene is evidently associated with type 2 diabetes with nephropathy;⑤The-1131T/C polymorphism in the ApoA5 gene is evidently associated with type 2 diabetes.
