| Objective:To study the effects of Algae with iodine excess on apoptosis and expressions of Fas,FasL andBcl-2 in thyroid follicular epitheliumin in iodine-deficent Wistar rats.Methods:Iodine-deficent Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups :model group, iodine excess group, conventional dosage Algae group,3 times of dosage Algae group.The normal group were fed with ordinary diet and double distilled water(DDW); The model group were fed with low iodine diet and double distilled water(DDW).Expressions of Fas,FasL and Bcl-2 were determined by immunohistochemistry.TUNEL(Transferase mediated dUTP nick and labeling ) was used to determine apoptosis. Results:Giving the processing factor 28 days later,the number of apoptotic thyrocytes in iodine excess group,the conventional dosage Algae group and 3times of dosage Algae group were markedly higher than in normal group(P <0.05,<0.05 and<0.05),were significantly lower than in the model group,both P<0.05.The number of apoptotic thyrocytes in the conventional dosage Algae group was gradually reduced but without significant difference when compared with the model group.The number of apoptotic thyrocytes in the conventional dosage Algae group was higherthan in pure iodine excess group, P <0.05 .The number ofapoptotic thyrocytes in 3 times of dosage Algae group was lower than those in iodine excess groupand conventional dosage Algae group but without significant difference The expressions of Fas in pure iodine excess group,conventionaldosage Algae group and 3 times of dosage Algae group were markedly higher than in normal group,P<0.05,<0.05 and<0.01.The expression of Fas in iodine excess group and 3 times of dosage Algae group was lower when compared with model group,both P<0.05. The expressionof Fas in conventional dosage Algae group was higher than in the iodine excess group, P<0.05.The expression of Fas in 3 times of dosage Algae group was reduced but without significant difference when compared with the conventional dosage Algae group. The expressions of FasL in pure iodine excess group,conventional dosage Algae group and 3 times of dosage Algae group were markedly higher than in normal group , P<0.05. The expressions of FasL in pure iodine excess group,conventional dosage Algae group and 3 times of dosage Algae group were lower when compared with model group, P<0.05. The expressions of FasL in conventionaldosage Algae group and 3 times of dosage Algae group were reduced but without significant difference when compared with the iodine excess group. The expression of FasL in 3 times of dosage Algae group was lower than conventional dosage Algae group but without significant difference. The expressions of Bcl-2 iodine excess group,conventional dosage Algae group and 3 times of dosage Algae group were lower than in normal group, but without significant difference.The expressions of Bcl-2 in iodine excess group,conventional dosage Algae group and 3 times of dosage Algae group were markedly higher than in model group and lower than normal group,P<0.05.The expressions of Bcl-2 in conventional dosage Algae group and 3 times of dosage Algae group were lower than in iodine excess group but without significant difference. The expression of Bcl-2 in 3 times of dosage Algae group was lower than in conventional dosage Algae group but without significant difference.Conclusion:Algae with iodine intake for 28 days, Algae can markedly decrease the number of apoptotic thyrocytes in iodine-deficent Wistar rats,but not return to normal.
