Preliminary Study On The Animals As Main Reservoirs And Vectors In Yulong Plague Focus In Yunnan Province

Objective To know characters of Yulong plague focus found in 2006.In order to provide the advice on work for plague control and prevention in Yulong plague focus.Methods Yulong plague focus was investigated and the data of Jianchuan plague focus surveillance were collected.The natural environment,reservoirs and vectors of Yulong and Jianchuan plague foci were compared.The indexes related to main reservoirs of Yulong and Jianchuan plague foci were analyzed with t test.Results The natural environment of Yulong plague focus is similar to that of Jianchuan plague focus.The wide valley between the two plague focuses may be a natural barrier to block the transmission of plague.The 12 species of rodents were found in Yulong plague focus.A.chevrieri is the main reservoir in the plague focus.The 12 species of fleas were found in Yulong plague focus.Neopsylla specialis specialis is the main vector in this plague focus.However,the amounts of the fleas in Yulong plague focus were significantly lower than that of Jianchuan plague focus, which was probably because the measure of killing fleas after human plague was carried out.Conclusion Both of Yulong and Jianchuan plague foci belong to the same type plague focus although they are relatively independent.
