Objective:To study the expression of CDX2,PTEN,p53 and Survivin proteins in intestinal metaplasia and adenocarcinoma and their relationship. Methods:Immunohistochemical EnVision method was used to detect the expression of CDX2,PTEN,p53 and Survivin proteins in simple intestinal metaplasia(SIM),atypical intestinal metaplasia(AIM)and gastric adenocarcinoma. Results:The positive rates of CDX2 in SIM,AIM and gastric adenocarcinoma were 82.6%,51.5%and 36.4%.The expression of CDX2 in gastric adenocarcinoma was significantly lower than SIM(χ~2=12.9470,P<0.05).There was no significant difference between AIM and gastric adenocarcinoma(χ~2=2.7010,P>0.05).The positive rates of PTEN in SIM,AIM and gastric adenocarcinoma were 86.9%,75.8%,47.7%respectively.There was significant difference between SIM and gastric adenocarcinoma(χ~2=9.7885,P<0.05).The positive rates of p53 in SIM,AIM and gastric adenocarcinoma were 13.6%,40.0%,55.0%.The expression of p53 in gastric adenocarcinoma was significantly higher than SIM(χ~2=10.0918,P =0.0015,P<0.05).There was no significant difference between AIM and gastric adenocarcinoma(χ~2=1.5441,P =0.2140,P>0.05).The positive rates of Survivin in SIM,AIM and gastric adenocarcinoma were 17.4%,36.4%,52.3%.The expression of Survivin in SIM was significantly higher than gastric adenocarcinoma. There was no significant difference between AIM and gastric adenocarcinoma.Conclusions:1.CDX2,PTEN,p53 and Survivin proteins may play an important role in gastric intestinal meteplasia.PTEN may have a possible role in regulating the expression of CDX2 protein in IM.2.It may be practical to classify IM as SIM and AIM for increasing the early detection of gastric carcinoma and AIM is thought to be precancerous lesion of gastric carcinoma.
