| Objective: To study the role of 3.0 T magnetic resonance diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) in differenting of the high-grade glioma and metastatic tumors, and high-grade glioma and low-grade glioma. Methods: Eight patients with high-grade(â…¢-â…£grade) cerebral gliomas and five patients with high-grade(â… -â…¡grade) cerebral gliomas, and eight patients with metastatic tumors underwent conventional MRI and diffusion tensor MR imaging before therapy. ADC,FA and GA were measured in each region of interest(ROI) , caculatated the ratio to the contralateral corresponding ROI, then make statistical analysis. Results: The ADC ratio and FA ratio of white matter surrounding the edema of metastatic tumors showed significantly difference with that of high-grade gliomas. The FA ratio (P <0.01) and GA ratio (P <0.05) of white matter surrounding the edema of metastatic tumors was significantly higher than that of high-grade gliomas group, And the ADC ratio (P <0.05) of normal white matter surrounding edema of the high-grade gliomas group was significantly higher than that metastatic tumor group, the ADC ratio of metastatic was obviously higher than high-grade gliomas. The ADC values of the tumor part and cystic part is no significant difference. The ADC ratio (P <0.05) of real ragional of low-grade glioma than high-grade glioma. Conclusion: The ADC ratio and FA ratio of white matter surrounding the edema can be used to distinguish high-grade gliomas from metastatic tumors, at the same time ,and the ADC ratio of real ragional of glioma were helpful for diffrenting high-grade and low-grade glioma, DTI showed the relationship between tumor and surrounding brain white matter better than conventional MRI. |
