This topic research the synthesis of furan carboxylic acid from fufural making use of the method of air liquid phase oxidation.The reaction begin with 5-Hydroxymethyl-2-furfural(HMF).The method of Ultraviolet spectrophotometry is used to investigate five factors which affect the reaction:(Ⅰ)To investigate the sort of catalyst:Ag2O is the best catalyst comparing with CuO,MnO2,Cu2O,the conversion ratio from HMF to HMFA is higher than others,it is better than 70%,however,other catalysts decomposed HMF to other products,but not HMFA.(Ⅱ)To investigate the different proportions of HMF and Ag2O:when Ag2O:HMF=1:1,the reaction is faster,the conversion ratio from HMF to HMFA is higher,it is better than 70%.(Ⅲ)To investigate the influence of Ag2O activation:activated Ag2O is better,the reaction is complete,the remnant HMF is fewer,the conversion ratio from HMF to HMFA is higher,it is better than 70%.(Ⅳ)To investigate the temperature of the reaction:there is no obvious differences among 20℃,40℃and60℃,so 20℃is preferred.(Ⅴ)To investigate the best proportion of HMF and Ag2O:when Ag2O:HMF=1:6.3mol,the reaction is complete,almost all HMF took part in the reaction.HPLC is used to investigate the yield and purity of HMFA which is extracted by different solvents.AcOEt is chosed,the yield of HMFA can up to 73%,the purity is better than 75%.However Et2O is not better than AcOEt,the yield of HMFA is only 62%,the purity is only 66%. CHCl3 is worst of all,the yield is only 11%.In view of the analysis above,we initially conclude the synthesis technology is:the catalyst is activated Ag2O;the temperature of the reaction is 20℃;the best proportion of HMF and Ag2O is 1:6.3mol.
