Dermatologists are in the unique position to be able to diagnose serious systemic diseases through skin findings; in addition, cutaneous manifestations can be associated with internal systems and provides the clinicians besides dermatologists with clues that lead to the diagnosis of systemic illness. While most patients who present with a rash have no associated with systemic illness, many systemic illness have skin manifestations at some stage. Cutaneous xanthomas commonly occur with plasma lipid abnormalities, necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum and gangrene with diabetes mellitus, erythema nodosum and pyoderma gangrenosum with inflammatory bowel disease, and so on. In some cases, the rashes are the first signs of an underlying disorder. Such as malignant acanthosis nigricans, which can occurring several months or years before gastric cancer, and the dermatomyositis , which the skin lesions often occurring before the muscle lesions. While skin disease is rarely life-threatening, serious morbidity and mortality may be avoided by early recognition of subtle cutaneous signs signaling internal problems. So in this article we have described cutaneous manifestations of some commonly occurring systemic diseases. And I described concisely the pathogenesis therapeutic principle and prognosis. These include the diseases of digestive system, blood system, endocrine system, circulatory system, in addition, renal disease, metabolic disease. The article also expounds briefly the cutaneous manifestations of internal malignancies, including skin metastases and paraneoplastic skin diseases. Often the skin manifestations of systemic disease are vague and nonspecific. There is no useful classification for cutaneous manifestations of systemic disease , and in our work, we may meet some new skin manifestation. So this needs summarizing and researching constantly.
