Abstract/Summary:
Objective:To study the expression and significance of tumor makers (VEGF and NSE)in benign and malignant pheochromocytoma.Analyze the possible clinical value and pathological significance.And providing assist basis to distinguish its benign and malignant.Methods:The tissue of the tumor was embedded with the paraffin after operation with 18 cases of benign tumor,16 cases of malignant tumor and 17 cases of normal adrenal medulla.The intensity and area of the expression for VEGF and NSE was studied by immunohistochemical staining in different tissue.The results of the staining were judged under the microscope.Results:1,The positive rate of staining for VEGF is 17.64%,33.33% and 81.25%in the section of normal,benign and malignant tissue, respectively.The positive rate for VEGF in malignant is significant higher than benign tissue(P<0.01).The positive rate of staining for VEGF has no significant difference between benign and normal tissue (P>0.05).The strong positive rate for VEGF in malignant is significant higher than benign tissue(P=0.003,<0.01).2,The positive rate of staining for NSE is 11.76%,50.00%and 87.50%in the section of normal,benign and malignant tissue.The positive rate of staining for NSE has significant difference between benign and malignant pheochromocytoma(P<0.05).And the expression in benign tissue is also higher than normal tissue(P<0.05).The strong positive rate for VEGF in malignant is higher than benign tissue(P=0.030,<0.05).3,The copositive rate of VEGF and NSE in malignant tissue is higher than benign tissue(P=0.004,<0.01).Conclusion:1,The expression of VEGF in malignant pheochromocytoma is significant higher than the benign tissue,and it may provide an assist biology index to distinguish the benign and malignant pheochromocytoma.2,The expression of NSE in malignant pheochromocytoma is higher than the benign tissue,and it may provide an assist biology index to distinguish the benign and malignant pheochromocytoma.3,Clinically,the detection of VEGF and NSE may offer assist basis to distinguish the benign and malignant pheochromocytoma.And the co-detection may elevate the sensitivity.
