Objective:To discuss the MRI findings and pathological characteristic of hemangioblastoma.Methods:18 patients(11 males and 7 females)with hemangioblastomas proved by surgery underwent MRI plain scan and enhancement examination, and its MRI findings were analyzed. The specimens were analysis by examination of routine pathological and immunohistochemistry stain, and pathological characteristic was observed.Results:17 cases of hemangioblastomas located in the posterior cranial fossa.14 hemangioblastomas demonstrated the type of big cyst with a mural nodule and the nodules were obviously enhanced,4 lesions showed the solid type.In 13 cases, the blood vessel flow-void-signal was seen intra-or peri-lesion.According to the ratio between blood capillary and stromal cells, the 18 cases of hemangioblastomas were further categorized into three subtypes:typical(10cases),reticular(2cases)and cellular(6cases).In all cases, the stromal cells were posi-tive for NSE,S-100 protein, but negative for EMA,CD 34 and GFAP.Conclusion:The MRI and pathological findings of hemangioblastoma have some extent of characteristic.MRI is an effective method in diagnosis of hemangioblastoma.
