Aim: To Clone and identify a novel lysophosphatidic acid acyltransferase gene.Method: Using screening technique of interspecies homologous sequence, we have cloneda novel lysophosphatidic acid acyltransferase member, which is designated as LPAAT-ζ.By comparing the cDNA sequence with the mouse genome sequence, we determined thegenome structure of LPAAT-ζ. We analyzed the characters of LPAAT-ζand therelationship of mouse LPAATs. We detected the relative expression of LPAAT in severalmouse tissues by RT-PCR. And we analyzed cellular localization of LPAAT-ζin cell withGFP-tag.Results: The mouse LPAAT-ζgene consisted of 12 exons and positioned at chromsome8p24.6. It spanned at least 17.584 kb in the gemone sequence. The expression level ofLPAAT-ζis highest in the brain and muscle, relatively high in the heart, kidney, spleenand liver, and lowest in testis. In fluorescence images, LPAAT-ζwas located incytoplasm. Conclusion: The cloning and characterization of the mouse LPAAT-ζwill make greatreferences for the study of the LPAAT.
