Objective: The aim was to investigate the anti-angiogenesis and possible mechanism of IFN while bulbar conjunctiva administered on corneal neovascularization(CNV) in rat induced by alkaline burn. We examined the expression of VEGF on rat's Cornea. Methods: The central cornea of 28 eyes were burned by NaOH, S-D rat were randomly assigned blank group (A), control group(B)and treated group(C).Group C was treated with IFN on 3×10~5IU and Group B with NaCl,one time every other day every rat. Measure the length and clock hour of blood - vessels. Expressions of VEGF were examined on 1d,4d,7d in SP and then analysis the relation of corneal neovascularization and VEGF. Results: The corneal area of treated group was statistically smaller than that in control group. The control groups' result of SP shows that expressions of VEGF is the highest and the result of the treated group is between the other groups. Conclusion: IFN can inhibit corneal angiogenesis induced by alkaline cauterization of the central cornea. The effect is associated with the inhibition of VEGF.
