Objective:To analyse the presenting features and laboratory features of the patients with multiple myeloma(MM)in region of Shandong.Methods:Medical records of 125 patients with MM in Shandong provincial hosipital were retrospectively reviewed.Results:Among 125 cases of MM,the median age were 60,and male predominate.IgG was the commonest type(43.2%).According to Durie and Salmon staging system,3.2% of the patients were in stageâ… ,49.6%in stageâ…¡,42.4%were in stageâ…¢.Clinical symptoms were complicated,and lack of specificity.The most common clinical symptoms at the current study were bone pain(79.2%)and fatigue(45.6%).There were 87.2%of patients had hemoglobin level blew 120 g/L.The incidence of hypocalcemia,hypercalcemia and renal disfuction(serum creatinine over 133umol/L) were 17.2%,23.8%and 32%respectively.Of the 117 imaging examination cases,95 cases were found bone destruction in varying degrees and 44 cases were fractured.72 percent of the patients experienced misdiagnosis,and the most was misdiagnosed as bone disease(13.4%).Conclusion:MM might be insidious onset and with different symptoms,anemia and bone destruction are the most common performance,meanwhile,MM is usually accompanied with abnormal serum calcium level and renal disfunction.In the early stage of the disease,diagnosis is not easy.It is necessary for doctors to raise awareness of clinical and laboratory features of MM.
