Abstract/Summary:
Objective To make a scale project so as to judge the prognosis of middle fossa meningiomas.Method Twenty-seven patients with middle fossa meningiomas from June 1996 to November 2007 were reviewed.By statistical analysis,we chose the factors affecting the total removal rate and postoperative life quality significantly, and made a scale project of middle fossa meningiomas. Results Tumors' size and whether to invade important structures or not are major factors affecting the total removal rate and postoperative life quality. We divided middle fossa meningiomas into gradeⅠ(0~1 score)and gradeⅡ(2~3 scores)according to the total scores of the two factors. The higher grade of the tumor, the lower total removal rate and the worse postoperative life quality. Conclusions To some extent,it is valuable to judge the prognosis and to evaluate the recurrence probability. It is also valuable to decide whether postoperative radiotherapy should be given.
