Ethical Reflections On The Combination Of Hospice And Euthanasia

Along with the economic and social development, people are increasingly emphasizing on the quality of life. Death is an important part of life, so how to die is arousing the world's growing concern. Optimistic state of euthanasia death and the vigorous development of hospice care all illustrate this point. Since death is inevitable, then that what kind of death process model is more in line with the dying person ,making the disadvantaged groups pass by with comfort and dignity is my paper's attempt to explore.Based on the comparative analysis of the current concerns of the world euthanasia, hospice and the study of practical needs , I think that the combination of euthanasia and hospice is a comparatively perfect model optimizing the death process. In this paper, my discussions mainly include three parts:The first part focuses on the optimization of death process, the ethical principles that the optimistic process followed and the several optimistic models of the death process. The ultimate concern of religion as an old caring manner has rich wisdom of the life and death which make great differences in moisturizing the dying souls, but its merely focus on the spirit caring of the dying patients is narrowly limited compared to the other demands of the patients .In modern society with the development of the Enlightenment and Renaissance movement, some philosophers and thinkers began to turn the research perspective to euthanasia. Euthanasia has being a quite controversial issue, and on some of its basic problems, there is not consensus view. Even though some people oppose euthanasia for its shortening the patient lives, but it has the value of its existence in eliminating the patient's suffering, safeguarding their dignity. In the dust of the euthanasia debate, hospice rise. More and more people have recognized it because it enriches the lives of terminal patients, improves their quality of life, and safeguards their dignity.However, how to treat the small number of patients who are in line with the conditions of euthanasia is still a gut issue.The second part mainly focuses on the basis, contents and significances of the combination of hospice and euthanasia. Should we abandon euthanasia after the rising of hospice? From their obvious differences and links, their respective advantages and shortcomings, the social needs for hospice and euthanasia we can conclude that they should be combined.Netherlands, and like the other countries provide with proper terminal services for their dying patients but there are still many dying patients request euthanasia.This prove that hospice can not completely replace Before the legalization of euthanasia in the past, many terminal patients either waited for the advent of death in the bitter suffering or ended their painful lives with some inhumane methods .moreover, some doctors, patients and their families even ventured to defy the law, quietly implementing the euthanasia.Under the situation that dying patients need for not only hospice but also euthanasia that we should combine them.In the model of combination of hospice with euthanasia the former is the main body and the latter is the useful supplement.The combination of hospice and euthanasia has great theoretical and practical significance and moral values.The combination model of hospice and euthanasia is the boy of the previous optimistic death process. It not only attaches importance to the sanctity of life but also pay attention to the quality and value of life. It enriches the connotation of humanitarian. It is not only helpful to the realization of social equity and justice, but also to the formation of a good society.
