Sleep is the physiologic and psychologic need for the body. Sleep deprivation caused by various reasons can make the impact on human body, particular on the brain cognitive function, which include memory, attention, alertness levels and so on. Research of impact mechanism of sleep deprivation on cognitive function is not only an effective way to seek the action mechanism of sleep, but also can provide a way for counteraction of SD. Till now, unified conclusion has not been concluded yet. In current study, apporach to evaluate this kind of effect includes fMRI, physiologic evaluation, electrophysiological method and so on It is a effective method to use the electrophysiological method to study the sleep deprivation on cognitive function by EEG. Its research on the brain is completely noninvasive, and the information obtained is a direct and objective reflection of the neurons group activities.EEG can not only reflect the external stimulation, but also spontaneous brain function. In this study, we evaluate the sleep deprivation on cognitive fuctions by EEG.As human cognitive process which directly face the memory of the feeling psychologic rather than feeling and psychologic itself, even short-term memory and feeling memory is in operation with the situation of the absence of obvious recalled. This paper focused on evaluating the effect of sleep deprivation on memory, especially on short-term memory. Reffered to the latest research results of cognitive psychology on short-term memory theory, with application of different stimulation, including visual memory of different colors materials and auditory memory by different arrays , we designed and did the memory tests, thus from auditory and visual we make assessment of the damage caused by sleep deprivation. As traditional electrophysiological analysis method-ERP(event-related potential )component comparison, is only a single brain region study on the cognitive functions, while in fact the brain and cognitive process is the function of integration of common brain areas. Therefore, this study developed our research based on the synchronization of brain activities and did coherence analysis of EEG data and brain FFT imaging analysis,to evaluate the effect of sleep deprivation on short-term memory. In this study we found that the weaking activity region in the brain was migrated and gatherd, and the coherence between the functional district declined , while the major damage caused by sleep deprivation on visual memory was to impact the frontal of the brain, thereby reducing the memory encoding phase of the role and function; the major damage caused by sleep deprivation on auditory memory was to impact the parietal lobe and thetemporal lobe of the brain.thereby causing damage to the memory extraction phase of the role and function.
