Establishment Of The Risk Threshold Value Of The Elderly Hip Fracture In Jiangxi Province | Posted on:2009-12-13 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:L J Liu | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2144360245489945 | Subject:Surgery | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Objective Hip bone mineral density of elderly people with osteoporotic fractures and health elderly people in jiangxi Province were measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry and statiscally analyzed, to find out the BMD threshold of hip osteoporotic fractures of elderly people in jiangxi Province.Method According to inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria, the above 50 elderly people diagnosed as the osteoporotic hip fracture and the above 50 elderly people without the hip fracture coming to the hospital for physical examination are introduced to the case group and the control group respectively, the fracture group including 86 elderly men and 118 elderly women,the nonfracture group including 102 elderly men and 119 elderly women, their bone mineral density were measured by Norland-XR36DEXA.The BMD values were analyzed using a receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve to determine the optimal cutoff point as the fracture threshold.The relationship between the body mass index (BMI) and the osteoporotic hip fracture of elderly people were analyzed in each age stratum.Result Negative correlation was found between the BMD values and age;there was evident difference in BMD between the statistical comparisons of the study and control group of each age stratum in males and females (P<0.01\*P<0.05);there was also evident difference in BMI between the study group and the control group of each age stratum in males and females (P<0.05);The Ward triangle BMD values at 0.512g/cm~2 was determined the fracture threshold for male; it is at 0.453g/cm~2 for female; Each 0.1g/cm~2 drops at the Ward triangle BMD values should result in the 2.6 times increasing of the risk of male hip fracture and the 2.0 times increasing of the risk for female.Conclusion The threshold of osteoprotic fracture in male was 0.512g/cm~2 and 0.453g/cm~2 in female;the drop of bone mineral density and the danger of the suffering hip fracture rises with the increasing of age; The body mass index (BMI) is one of the important factors on the elder with osteoporotic hip fracture. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Osteoprostic fracture, elder people, bone mineral density, the fracture threshold, body mass index | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
