PART ONE Investigation on West Nile Virus Infection in Equine of Yili, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Objective: To investigate the natural infection and epidemic of West Nile Virus (WNV) in equine of Yili, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Methods: One step real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (Real-time RT-PCR) was performed to detect the West Nile Virus envelope protein gene (WNV E) in 150 peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and 60 brain tissues (left midbrain) of equines. Gene sequence and amino acid sequence were analyzed for the possible positive products. Results: No positive product was found in all the samples. Conclusion: No evidence was found, in this investigation, to support WNV natural infection in equines of Yili, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.PART TWO Investigation on West Nile Virus Infection in Dog of Yili, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Objective: To investigate the natural infection and epidemic of WNV in dog of Yili, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Methods: One step Real-time RT-PCR was performed to detect the WNV E in 100 PBMCs of dogs. Gene sequence and amino acid sequence were analyzed for the possible positive products. Results: No positive product was found in all the samples. Conclusion: It is suggested that, in this investigation, there is no evidence to support WNV natural infection in dogs of Yili, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
