The Phragmites Austral is (Phragmites communis Trin) grown in the Badain Jaran Desert in China's western region, can be isolated to a polyamine aromatic compound (PAAC) from its leaves, but in other eco-reed not detected this compounds or analogues. PAAC itself has strong absorption of UV-A, UV-B, also has strong ability to eliminate free radicals OH. Based on the characteristics of PAAC , this compound used in actual production and living will is necessary and Urgent, therefore, to understand the toxicity of PAAC for mammals is very necessary.The definition of the descriptive toxicity test is toxicology basic research about the some factors that harmful to the environment especially some external chemicals, including procedures for the test animals choosing, the production of experimental model, the determination of quantity and dosage, the toxic exposure methods and indicators, observation the overall toxic effects on test animals, then get the toxicology extrapolation and to humans.Based on the desert Rhizoma Phragmitis' effective compound (PAAC) for the study, the indicators includes the weight gain, the blood component analysis, the pathological changes in liver and superoxide dismutase (SOD), MDA (MDA), the Catalase (CAT), to study the PAAC to Kunming mice' growth,liver toxicity and the damage of antioxidant defense system, and the tentative study about its toxic effects , they provided a scientific basis for PAAC to the mammals' Eco-toxicological effects. The results show that:1. According the standards of compounds' acute oral toxicity, we adopted in the scope of low toxicity to the KM mice's oral acute toxicity test. the PAAC animal acute toxicity is determined;2. The mice's observation showed that in the initial exposured time, the digestive system of the animals had injuried seriously by PAAC, it also could lead to loss of appetite, dispirited and move slowly . According to the blood testing and liver slices results, confirmed that in the early exposured time, liver damage occured more serious, and as the dose increases, the degree of liver damage animals will also increase.3. PAAC make liver superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) were lower, malonc-dialdehyde (MDA) was increased, that meant the increase in lipid peroxidation, confirmed this is one way of PAAC toxicity.4. The biological toxicity of PAAC is low-toxicity,The conclusions of this paper is as follows:1. the desert Rhizoma Phragmitis' effective compound's (PAAC) biological toxicity is low, micro-toxicity.2. the desert Rhizoma Phragmitis' effective compound (PAAC) can damage animals antioxidant defense system.
