Objective To investigate effects of mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)on short term of ischemia-reperfusion injury following rat lung transplantation. Methods Fourty health adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly allocated to 2 groups with 8 rats in each group:lung transplantation group(â… )and the MSCs treatment group(â…¡).Single left lung transplantation with allografts were underwent and the MSCs was administered to the recipient rats through the pulmonary artery. After 6h reperfusion, the above of the lung graft was harvested to measure the activity of myeloperoxidase(MPO),the content of malondialdehyde (MDA)and the activity of erythrocuprein(SOD);The middle for measuring the biopsy specimens level of TNF-α,IL-1β,IL-8and the left for wet/dry weight ratio (W/D);The 2 groups were repeated for studying pathomorphology. Results The wet/dry weight ratio(W/D),the activity of myeloperoxidase (MPO),the activity of erythrocuprein(SOD)and the content of malondialdehyde (MDA)ofâ… group were higher than those ofâ…¡group(P>0.05)after 6h reperfusion. The biopsy specimens level of TNF-α,IL-8 ofâ… group were higher than those ofâ…¡group(P>0.05),but the IL-1βofâ… group were lower than those ofâ…¡group(P>0.05).Inflammatory cell infiltration was not significantly reduced about the pathomorphology. Conclusion The MSCs doesnot protect the lung function against ischemia-reperfusion injury after transplantation within 6 hours.
