OBJECTIVE To study the expression and clinical significance of Livin,CD44v6 and E-cadherin in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).and to explore their correlations with tumorigenesis and progression of NSCLC.METHODS Immunohistochemistry was performed in 71 cases of NSCLC,paracancer tissues and 20 cases of normal lung tissues. The clinical stages, pathological patterns, pathological grades, metastatic states of lymph nodes were studied.RESULTS The expression of Livin and CD44v6 in the tissues of NSCLC were significantly higher than those in the paracancer and normal lung tissues(P<0.01).The expression of Livin and CD44v6 in tissues of NSCLC had a positively correlated with PTNM and lymph node metastasis (P<0.01).The over-expression of CD44v6 also had a positively related to pathological grades of NSCLC(P<0.05).There was a positive corrlrtions between expression of Livin with CD44v6(P<0.01).The expression of E-cadherin in NSCLC was significantly lower than that in normal tissue and paracancer. The negative expression of E-cadherin had no relationships with clinical stages, pathological grades, pathological types and metastatic states of lymph node of NSCLC.CONCLUSIONS The expression of Livin,CD44v6 and E-cadherin in NSCLC might be important biological markers in NSCLC,and it might be useful in study of biological behavior and in the prognosis of NSCLC.The expression of Livin had a correlate with CD44v6,which indicated that Livin and CD44v6 might play very important roles in tumor angiogenesis in NSCLC.
