Objective:Testing the biomechanical effects of calcium phosphate cement(CPC) or CPC combined Kirschner wire in fixating distal radius fractures to provid biomechanical foundation for clinical treating distal radius fractures. Methods:A models of 18 human distal radius fracture of adult upper limbs specimen were made and randomly divided into three groups:fixed with Kirschner wire(Kirschner group),CPC(CPC group),and CPC combined Kirschner wire(combination group).Wrist joint was vertically pressured load with 98N,and palmar flexion with dorsal extention motion was simulated, which range of movement was from palmar flexion 5°to dorsal extention 30°,and frequency was 2000 cycles.Dorsal and radial displace data of distal radius were measured by sliding caliper at every 500 cycles,we had tested Young's modulus of two samples of CPC.Results:A multiple factor analysis of variance was used and dorsal and radial displace data of distal radius of three groups had no significantly statistical difference in testing periodicity(P>0.05).Dorsal and radial displace data of distal radius in Kirschner group and CPC group and combination group had significantly statistical difference(P<0.05),while no significantly statistical difference was found in CPC group and combination group(P>0.05).Conclusions:CPC and CPC combined Kirschner wire are superior to Kirschner wire in fixating distal radius fractures with bone defect. The effects of fixting of CPC is as same as CPC combined Kirschner wire and Young's modulus of CPC is about 30Mpa,which is between cancellous bone and compact bone.
