Objectives:To investigate the etiology and pathogenesis of unexplained fetal growth restriction(FGR)by detecting the changes of contents of Soluble Fas(sFas)and Soluble Fas ligand(sFasL)in maternal serum and umbilical vein blood in unexplained fetal growth restriction in term from the angle of immunology.Methods:twenty women of unexplained fetal growth restriction in term (the FGR group),Twenty normal pregnant women in term(the control group),twenty infants of unexplained fetal growth restriction in term (the FGR group)and twenty normal infants in term(the control group) were studied.The contents of sFas and sFasL in maternal serum and umbilical vein blood were determined by enzyme linked immuno-sorbent assay(ELISA).Analysis these data with SPSS 13.0.Results:(1)The content of sFas in maternal serum of fetal growth restriction(the FGR group)was(5332.5±1356.0)pg/ml,the content of sFas in vein blood of normal pregnant women in term(the control group) was(3172.5±670.0)pg/ml,the content of the FGR group higher than that of the control group,the two groups had statistics significances deviation(P<0.001).(2)The content of sFas in umbilical vein blood of fetal growth restriction neonates was(3222.5±886.8)pg/ml,the content of sFas in umbilical vein blood of normal neonatals in term was (2092.5±455.5)pg/ml,the content of the FGR group higher than that of the control group,the two groups had statistics significances deviation(P<0.05).(3)The content of sFasL in maternal serum of fetal growth restriction was(343.0±66.7)pg/ml,the content of sFasL in vein blood of normal pregnant women in term was(191.5±24.3)pg/ml, the content of the FGR group higher than that of the control group, the two groups had statistics significances deviation(P<0.05).(4) The content of sFasL in umbilical vein blood of fetal growth restriction neonatals was(331.5±61.8)pg/ml,the content of sFasL in umbilical vein blood of normal neonatals in term was(188.0±24.6)pg/ml,the content of the FGR group higher than that of the control group,the two groups had statistics significances deviation(P<0.001).(5)The sFas,sFasL contents of maternal serum were higher than that of umbilical vein blood in the FGR groups and the control groups,the sFas content of maternal serum were higher than that of umbilical vein blood in the FGR groups,the two groups had statistics significances deviation(P<0.001).(6)There were positive correlations between the contents of sFas,sFasL in maternal serum and the contents of sFas,sFasL in umbilical vein blood of neonatals in the FGR groups and the control groups. (7)There were negative correlations between the contents of sFas,sFasL in both of maternal serum and umbilical vein blood and the weight of newbones in the FGR groups and the control groups.Conclution:It supposed that the significant high contents of sFas,sFasL in both of maternal serum and umbilical vein blood in the FGR groups had important actions in unexplained fetal growth restriction;It supposed that the level of sFas in maternal serum had more reflected the state of unexplained fetal growth restriction because the content of sFas in maternal serum were significant higher than that of umbilical vein blood in the FGR groups.
