ObjectiveCoronary heart disease is the common diseases of the elderly. With the age of our population, the number of elderly patients with coronary heart disease increasing now. The elderly have coronary heart disease with more features, such as no symptoms, no typical angina symptoms and parts, many complications and Higher mortality. To the elderly, it is a very prominent position in the diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease. In addition, at this stage coronary angiography is the increasing level of maturity. In order to combine means of modern medical clinics and TCM effectivly. Now through prospectivly studying the clinical data of patients with coronary heart disease, we summarized a distribution of the relationship of TCM syndrome-type and the outcome of coronary angiography. With a view to provide some objective the evidence in diagnosis and treatment of coronary heart disease by combining TCM and Modern medicine.MethodsUsing the forward-looking survey of research methods, in accordance with coronary heart disease diagnostic criteria, select elderly in-petients with coronary heart disease in Guangdong province TCM hospital from December 2006 to October 2007. Based on inclusion and exclusion criteria to choose the qualified Case 214 cases. In the light of China Cardiovascular Institute of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in October 1990 amendment TCM syndrome standards of coronary heart disease, according to these standards, based on patients with clinical date. Under the guidance of the two deputy chief physician of TCM , Analysed syndrome-type. Judkins' coronary angiography to law standards, by experienced heart medicine doctors and interventional radiology medical doctors complete diagnostic report together. Established a database, applied digital software SPSS13. 0 to analogy the relationship of TCM syndrome-type and the outcome of coronary angiography and summarized it.ResultsIn 214 cases of elderly patients with coronary heart disease, 31 cases with normal coronary angiography. accounting for 14 percent, 47 case with single branche lesion, accounting for 22 percent, 55 case with doule branches lesion , accounting for 26 percent, 81 case with three branches lesion, accounting for 38 percent. According to TCM syndrome type, 180 case with Qi-deficiency syndrome, accounting for 84. 1 percent, 193 cases with blood-stasis syndrome, accounting for 90.1 percent, this type is the most common, followed by 87 cases with phlegm turbid syndrome, accounting for 40.7 percent, 121 cases with cold syndrome, accounting for 56. 5 percent. 30 cases with Yin-deficiency syndrome, accounting for 14 percent, 24 cases with Qi-stagnation syndrome, accounting for 11.2 percent, Yang-deficiency syndrome and blood deficiency syndrome is rare. The characteristic of TCM syndrome type of different outcome group of coronary angiography was analyzed. In the abnormal coronary angiography group the cases of Qi deficiency syndrome, blood stasis syndrome, blood-stasis syndrome, phlegm turbid syndrome, and cold syndrome were significantly higher than those in the normal coronary angiography group. (P<0. 05). In the normal coronary angiography group the cases of Qi-stagnation syndrome, were significantly higher than those in the abnormal coronary angiography group. (P<0. 05). The cases of Yin-deficiency syndrom, Yang-deficiency syndrome or blood deficiency syndrome were no significantly difference between the two groups, (P > 0. 05). The cases of simple asthenia syndrome were no significantly difference between the two groups, (P > 0.05).In the abnormal coronary angiography group the cases of intermingled asthenia and sthenia syndrome or sthenia syndrome were significantly higher than those in the normal coronary angiography group. (P <0. 05). In three branches lesion group the cases of Qi-deficiency syndrome, blood stasis syndrome, or phlegm turbid syndrom were significantly higher than those in the normal coronary angiography group, single branche lesion group or doule branches lesion group. (P<0. 05).In the normal coronary angiography group the cases of Qi-stagnation syndrome were significantly higher than those in single branche lesion group , doule branches lesion group or three branches lesion group .(P<0. 05).ConclusionBetween TCM syndrome-type and the outcome of coronary angiography there is a certain relationship. For the elderly patients with the normal outcome of abnormal coronary angiography, Qi-stagnation syndrome is more. For the elderly patients with the abnormal outcome of abnormal coronary angiography, Qi deficiency syndrome, blood stasis syndrome, blood-stasis syndrome, phlegm turbid syndrome, and cold syndrome is more. In the abnormal coronary angiography group the cases of intermingled asthenia and sthenia syndrome or sthenia syndrome were significantly higher than those in the normal coronary angiography group. In three branches lesion group the cases of Qi-deficiency syndrome, blood stasis syndrome,or phlegm turbid syndrom were significantly higher than those in the others.
