[Objective] : 1. To observe the short-term clinical effect and the change of the index of bronchial asthma treated with Chinese medicine acupoint application therapy. 2. To explain the possible therapeutic mechanism of the therapy. 3. To provide the theoretical and clinical basis to astkia treated with the therapy in non-dog-day and non—999-day. Further enlarge its application.[Methods]: 40 remission stage bronchial asthma cases were divided into two groups: treatment group (group A, n=20) and control group (group B, n=20) by random double—blind method. 20 cases in group A were divided into deficiency-cold type (n=11) and phlegm-heat type (n=9) by Syndrome Differentiation. Two groups were treated alternativly with chinese medicine acupoint application therapy on acupoint group 1 (Dazhui, Shenshu, Feishu, Pishu) and acupoint group 2(Tiantu, Tanzhong, Qihai , Guanyuan, Zusanli). The treatment course was 4 weeks, twice per week, 8 times in total. The medicinal cake for group A was made by ginger juice and ginger oil mixing with herbal powder of black pepper, Semen Sinapis, HerbaAsari, Radix Angelicae dahuricae and Radix pterospermi Heterophyllum. That for group B was made by ginger juice mixing with red rice, black rice and corn. Determine the change of level of blood EOS, serum IL-4, IFN-γ, the forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1) accounting for the predicted vital capacity percentage (FEV1%) and FEV1 taking forced vital capacity (FVC) percentage(FEV1/FVC). Observe the short-tern clinical effect.Observe ability of daily activities, environment influence & clinical symptom pre and post treatment.[Results] :The age, sex and Pathogenetic condition level of two groups had no remarkable difference (P>0. 05) .The symptoms of chest stuffy and cough improved after the treatment in group A. There were 17 effective cases in group A, 2 cases were clinically controlled, 8 cases had marked effect, and 7 cases improved. There were 12 effective cases in group B, no case was clinically controlled, 3 cases had marked effect, 9 cases improved. The total effective rates of treatment group and control group were 85% and 60% respectively. The differences were significant (P<0. 05) between group A and group B. While the difference had no significance (P>0. 05) between the deficiency-cold type and phlegm-heat type post treatment of group A. Blood EOS count decreased significantly in group A after treatment. The differences were very significant (P<0. 01) between group A and group B & pre and post treatment of group A. FEV1% and FEV1/FVC significantly increased, The differences were significant (P<0. 05) between group A and group B & pre and post treatment of group A. The level of serum IL-4 decreased and the level of serum IFN-γincreased post treatment in group A. The scores of ability of daily activities, invironment influence and clinical symptom obviously enhanced post treatment in group A. the differences were significant (P<0.05) between group A and group B & pre and post treatment of group A.[Conclusion]: 1. Chinese medicine acupoint application therapy can enhance pulmonary ventilation function of the asthma patients, improve ability of daily activities and their clinical symptom. The effect is affirmative and is worth further generalizing. 2. The therapy has obvious suppression to the infiltration of blood EOS , the level of IL-4 decreased obviously, but that of IFN-γincreased obviously, so we guess: this therapy may enhance the asthma patients' function of Th1's cell, suppress the hyperfunction of Th2's cell through the immunity way. thus it can adjust the unbalance of the TH1/TH2 cell and improve the immune function. So It has the effect of treatment to asthma.
