Taiwan is located in the subtropical zone. The weather is hot throughout the year. In order to cool the body, most people like to stay in buildings with air conditioner and fans. What' s more, the people also like to have icy food and fruits that will lead to obvious temperature gradient between exterior and interior of the body. The wet and waste is then generated inside the body. If the lung and skin are unable to excrete the wet and waste, it may in turn accumulates within the spleen. This results in the dysfunction of spleen and stomach and relevant syndromes. In addition, the over-diet of the spicy food and wine may remain undigested and clog within the gastrointestinal tract. The synergy of clogged food and hot weather would induce the Epigastic Pain. The Epigastric Pain is a common digestive disorder that is mainly resulted from the wet and waste generated from the synergy of stuffing food and hot weather. The major symptoms compass Epigastric Pain, fullness, dry mouth and constipation. The statistical analysis shows most symptoms is apperantly improved after the treatment in those patients who complete four courses of treatment. Regardless the Epigastic Pain, swollen pain of ribs, stomach stuffing, dry mouth with bad smell and gastroesophageal reflux are significantly improved. As a consequence, we strongly recommend that Pinelliae Decoction for Purging Stomach-Fire is one of the effective prescriptions for treating the disease.
